The Human Resources Department strives to provide high quality programs and services to our valued personnel in a cost-effective and efficient manner.


This department is responsible for advertising and recruiting for vacant positions within the classified service of the Jackson County Government which includes accepting and screening applications, facilitating employment interviews, administering drug/alcohol screens and the processing of necessary paperwork for new hires.

Human Resources is also responsible for the development of a classification plan which provides the job titles and descriptions of duties and responsibilities for positions in the classified services. This department is also responsible for the development of a compensation plan which establishes a pay system for employees that is equitable and uniform and which includes a performance management plan which provides a schedule for performance evaluations and subsequent performance-based increases.

Resumes and applications are accepted when job vacancies exist. Job opportunities are posted on the website and on the job opportunities page of the electronic display screen in the lobby of the Administration Building located at 67 Athens Street in Jefferson. Applicants may apply in person at the Administration Building.
