In 2017 Jackson and Hall County began the County Boundary dispute process outlined in O.C.G.A. 36-3-20. While there never truly was an open dispute over the border, neither county could say with any certainly where the true border was because the definition of the line was based on the location of a home and an Indian Territory treaty(The Hawkin's Line) from over 200+ years ago that could not be verified. In 2019 Governor Nathan Deal appointed Tate Jones, PLS with KCI who took on the project and eventually filed a plat with the Secretary of States office finalizing where the true border is by O.C.G.A. 36-3-20 . It is our hope that moving into the future surveys can be done to properly show the county boundary when future projects are done along the boundary line. Below is data regarding the final true border done by KCI for use within Land Surveys and Engineered Plans and coordinates for 16 monuments that mark the line.
