The Jackson County Public Defender's Office provides representation to all indigent defendants (with the exception of those with whom the office has a conflict of interest arising from representation of other defendants) in Jackson County's Superior, State, Juvenile, and Magistrate Courts for whom the right to counsel attaches. The office also represents defendants on direct appeals to the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court.
The Public Defender's Office is located in the Jackson County Courthouse, 5000 Jackson Parkway, Suite 270, Jefferson, Georgia. The Courthouse is open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Applications for appointment of counsel are available by the door at the Office of the Public Defender.
