Birth Certificate
The Probate Court office maintains birth records for people born in Jackson County and has records from 1919 to current year. We are also able to print most birth records from other counties in GA...please call ahead to verify availability. We only have birth records that were filed with the State of GA Vital Records office. We can only release certified copies, they may be picked up in person or requested through the mail. Certificates are issued Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:45pm, the requirements to obtain a birth certificate are listed below. We also file Amended and Delayed birth certificates as well as Paternity Acknowledgements. If you have any questions please call Melinda at 706-387-6277.
Requesting in person:
- Birth certificate will be released to individual, parent(s), grandparent(s), adult sibling, adult child, or legal spouse.
- ID must be provided--Accepted ID
- Fees are $10.00 for one, $5.00 for each additional of the same certificate, we accept cash, check or money order. UPDATE: Begining January 1, 2010 the fee will increase to $15.00 for one copy and we will accept VISA/MasterCard for payment
Requesting through mail:
- Complete the BC request below--individual, parent(s), grandparent(s), adult sibling, adult child, or legal spouse
- Include a copy of your current driver’s license or other Accepted ID
- SASE (self-addressed-stamped-envelope)
- Money order only--Fees are $15.00 for one, $5.00 for each additional of the same certificate.

Death Certificate
The Probate Court office maintains death records dating back to 1919 for people who died in Jackson County or resided in Jackson County at the time of their death. We issue certified copies only, they may be picked up in person or requested through the mail. Requesting in person:
- ID must be provided--Accepted Id
