...the front door to our community. Over the last few year the growth in Jackson County has accelerated and the Airport is now beginning to see the effect. As our County moves into its next phase of economic expansion so to must the Airport.
Located near I-85 and in an uncontrolled airspace, the Jackson County Airport is in a very advantageous position both geographically and economically. The development of an Airport Layout Plan or ALP is now in the concept phase with the goal of taking full advantage of these and other factors. Numerous ideas are being explored for possible inclusion in future developments.
Today the Airport is a well maintain General Aviation Facility. There is ramp space available for rent from the county and private hanger space options as well. Fuel prices are some of the lowest in North Georgia. (See Current Fuel Prices) In the near future renovations will b
egin on the County’s Hanger to include a Fixed Base Operator and increased services to the aviation public. A runway extension program is under way for RW 16 / 34 extending its length to 5000 feet. This project will be on going for the next year. Other upgrades include fencing, security cameras, and equipment upgrades.
