The Jackson County Veterans Information and Referral Office (VIRO) is located at 67 Athens Street, Jefferson, GA 30549. The office can be contacted at phone number (706) 387-7653 or by email at viro@jacksoncountygov.com .
MISSION
The mission of the VIRO is to provide assistance to all Veterans who may need help obtaining copies of official records, applying for benefits, locating local Veterans Administration offices/clinics, and/or being a bridge between the VA and the veteran when problems arise. The VIRO works closely with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (www.va.gov) to ensure all veterans are treated with dignity and obtain assistance.
The VIRO is manned by volunteers who willingly give of their time to our veterans. Currently, all the Jackson County volunteers are vets themselves so they have a complete understanding of the challenges each veteran faces whether they served our country in World War II or just finished service in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Officer Hours
The office is open on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Tuesdays of each month. The schedule for 2010 is as follows:
