Project Guidelines

Any public/private nonprofit organization, healthcare organization, or public agency in Jackson County is eligible to host a project site for the 2024 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. To apply, complete this form, either online or via this fillable pdf, and submit by October 1, 2023. If approved, the MLK DOS committee will provide tools, materials, and volunteers to complete your project on Monday, January 15, 2024, from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM.

When considering your application, keep in mind the following:

  • Preference will be given to projects that can be completed with unskilled volunteers, though we may be able to recruit some helpers with special skills.
  • Projects must be completable within the one-day, four-hour timeframe.
  • The average funded project has a total cost of $500. The more expensive your project, the lower the chance that it will be fully funded.
  • Someone from your organization must be present to help direct the project and maintain site security.
